We are delighted that The Home Project, our community writing project about Redfern/Waterloo, will be officially launched by the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir and Lord Mayor Clover Moore from noon-2pm this Sunday, 27th October, at the Sydney Story Factory.
Home is a year-long project that will engage young people in writing stories about life in Redfern/Waterloo. We will run a range of linked workshops where students aged 7 to 17 write about their experiences of this area. They will also be given structured opportunities to interview older people about their memories and experiences, and will work with professional authors, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to write these stories – and their own – in diverse and interesting ways.

The students will edit these stories into a book called Home, which will be professionally published and sold in late 2014.

We are thrilled the Governor and the Lord Mayor can join us, along with special guest Leah Purcell, star of Redfern Now. Come join us for a panel interview of our guests, a sausage sizzle, games for kids and the opportunity for everyone, young and old, to contribute a story about this amazing area.

See you then!
