Description

Mabo Day marks the anniversary of the High Court of Australia’s judgement in 1992 in the Mabo case. The Mabo Decision was a turning point in the recognition of land rights for Indigenous Australians, and led to the passing of the Native Title Act in 1993.

Please join us to celebrate this important day at an event featuring keynote speaker Michael Bani, Director of Kayin Revolution and a proud Torres Strait Islander man who played for both Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League. Michael will discuss his work of integrating Indigenous Culture with modern day traditions which covers all components of spiritual, cultural, mental and physical health.

Michael will be joined in a panel discussion by Jasper Garay, Associate Lecturer, Sydney School of Public Health, and Larissa Minniecon, an active local community member.

Please join us for lunch following the proceedings.
